Probe after massive booze heist
Kilbride yesterday afternoon.
Last night Paisley cops launched a public appeal in a bid to track down the crooks and recover the £500,000 worth of spirits.
Detective Sergeant Michael Lochrie of Paisley CID said: ““Both trailers had a quantity of whisky, vodka and gin on board.
“The missing trailer was hooked onto a white cab, possibly with orange writing, which was towing the trailer with Campbell McLelland written on it.
“We are still trying to ascertain what brands.
“Extensive enquiries are underway and we are appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to please get in touch.
“In particular we would ask anyone who was in the vicinity of Riverpark Industrial Estate around 5pm on Sunday evening and may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact police.
“We believe the area would have been busy with shoppers.”
He added: “We would also urge motorists with dashcams who were in the area to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance to our enquiries.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Paisley CID via 101.”
A spokeswoman for Malcolm Group confirmed they were helping the police with the investigation.
She said: “We can confirm an incident occurred at one of our depots on Sunday, December 9.
“We are conducting a full investigation in relation to this, in conjunction with the police and our security providers.” (Adjacent to Kwik Save car park, Paisley Road West)
