Paisley Rugby Club salutes tragic Lesley Tributes follow death of Junior Convener

A well known figure in Paisley’s rugby scene has died at the age of 43.
Lesley Speed, from Renfrew, was the Junior Convener at Paisley Rugby Club for around five years.
She had been suffering from cancer, and is survived by her husband John and sons Joe, 15, and Sam, 12.
Euan Stuart, who deals with the club’s commercial and communications affairs, said: “We at the club are all very saddened at Lesley’s death.
“It is also very sad that Lesley has died at this time of year.
“We offer our deepest condolences to her husband John and to Sam and Joe.
“Lesley did marvellous work at the club and she will be greatly missed”
And a message on Paisley Rugby Club’s Facebook page echoed Mr Stuart’s remarks.
It read: “Lesley was first and foremost a parent and also an active member of our club.
“Lesley has helped redevelop our current junior section and has also been involved in organising a number of both junior and club events over the years.
“We would like to extend our condolences to all of Lesley’s family in this time of grief and mourning. “Rest in peace, Lesley.” As Paisley Rugby Club’s Junior Convener, Mrs Speed, who worked for travel company Carlson Wagonlit, was responsible for developing the children and young people’s side of the organisation.
She was responsible too for the welfare of the children and encouraging them in their enjoyment of the sport.
Mrs Speed also reported back to the club about the progress of the junior wing.
The club, which was founded in 1985, has three junior teams for varying ages, and two mini teams for primary school aged children.
Details of Mrs Speed’s funeral have not been announced yet.
