Battered teen left soaked in her own blood

-

A Barrhead family battered a teenager so badly she looked like a character from a horror film.

Danielle Queen, 30, and Paul McGurk, 26, used a hammer and a walking stick to leave the girl, 17, soaked in blood.

Others joined in a mass brawl in a quiet residential street.

The pair were convicted of assault after a trial at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Witness Michael Smith told how he tried to treat the girl’s wounds.

He said: “I can only describe her as looking like something out of a horror film. Her hands were out in front of her face and she was screaming uncontrollably. “There was fear in her eyes. “She was bleeding heavily down her face.”

The pair pounced on the teen and another woman after trouble flared in East Renfrewshire.

The rammy erupted as part of an ongoing feud.

Family head Catherine Queen, 43, got out of a car to confront another woman during the row.

Michelle McClintock replied by chasing her with a rolling pin.

Danielle and McGurk got out the motor with another 17-yearold, who can’t be named for legal reasons, before joining the ruckus.

The teenage victim was then dragged into the fight.

Mr Smith told how he tried to help the girl after the attackers fled.

He added: “There was an SUV in the street, they went in to it and left.

“I tried to give her first aid and stem the bleeding.

“I used an old top I had on at the time and applied pressure to the wound.

“I was trying to calm her down and comfort her.

“I put my arm round to try and console her because she was shivering and shaking.”

The court heard McGurk and Danielle battered the girl, 17, and rained blows on her head with the weapons. They were joined by Catherine and the other teenager in attacking Michelle.

They pulled her to the ground and pinned her down before smacking her with a brick.

The gang denied the attack in Clarkston on January 9 last year.

But Sheriff David Pender convicted all four and called for reports ahead of sentencing.

Catherine, Danielle and the 17- year- old, all of Barrhead, and McGurk, of Glasgow, were found guilty of acting in a threatening manner and attacking Michelle.

McGurk and Danielle were also convicted of attacking the younger victim.
