Foul-mouthed yob fined for outburst

-

A yob who bawled at police in Paisley has been fined for the offence.

Scott Millard, 30, hurled insults and obscenities as officers after they were called to attend an incident in Glen Street.

Procurator Fiscal Depute Kara Watt told Paisley Sheriff Court officers were called at about 1.30am on October 21, 2017.

The prosecutor explained:“Officers were instructed to attend reports of a disturbance at a flat in Glen Street.

“They were allowed entry to the property by the householder and there were three people within.

“One of the witnesses told the police she wished one of the males to be removed from the house.

“Police spoke with the accused, at which point he became hostile to them.

“He was asked to desist and refused and told that, if he continued, he would be arrested.

“He walked in to the common close and continued to shout and swear, saying,‘f****** go for it, jail me then!’.”

The officers then obliged, detaining Millard, but were unable to caution and charge him over the offence because of his behaviour.

Millard, of Caledonia Street, Paisley, had earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive way and sentence had been deferred for background reports to be prepared.

And, when he returned to the dock to learn his fate, Sheriff Seith Ireland opted to fine him for the offence.

As he ordered him to stump up £450, reduced from £500 as he admitted his guilt, he said:“You’ve got a record and that has to be taken in to consideration here.

“You’re already on a Community Payback Order for another matter.

“If you don’t do the unpaid work that will be reported back to court and a custodial sentence may be imposed.”
