An appeal is still up and running to collect donations of essential household items to help people who are struggling financially.

Renfrewshire Helping Those In Need say families have been in contact looking for prams, sterilisers, bottles, tumble dryers, washing machines, fridge freezers, dishwashers, bunk beds, single beds, carpets, underlay and laminate flooring to bring comfort over the winter period.

The organisation, which works in conjunction with Foxbar Community Resource Cafe to provide relief to those experiencing difficult times, is a not-for-profit group that relies on the help of dedicated volunteers.

Founder Jade Lochhead said:“We set up to help individuals and families who are facing hardship and poverty through many different reasons such as benefit sanctions or changes, low income or emergencies.

“Whatever the reason, we are there to help individuals and families with no judgements and no questions asked.

“The organisation started with Amanda Macdonald and myself and has since grown. We have three loyal volunteers Christine Johnstone, Sylvia Sneider and Kate Irvine who since our set up in September have given up their time and petrol to collect donations as well as drop items off to those who can’t pick up.

“We are always looking for storage and donations of food, as well as monetary donations through either our charity Paypal or JustGiving page.

“We are happy for anyone who wishes to help, to come in and see what they can do.”
