We’ve not had hot water for weeks... we need council help now

- ALISON RENNIE

A family claim they’ve been left without hot water for weeks.

Paul Gibb, 33, his partner Kayleigh Green, and their 12- year- old daughter live in the Renfrewshire Councilowned flat with Paul’s 16-year-old step-daughter staying sometimes as well.

They’ve been in the property in Morar Drive, Linwood for seven weeks and said the problems with the hot water started in early December.

Paul said: “We’ve had lots of people come out to try and fix it.

“One guy came out before Christmas and it worked OK for about a week.

“Then

it stopped working and the next guy we had out said it had been left live with all the elements exposed.

“He said it could have killed one of us if we’d touched it.

“I’m astounded it had been left like that.

“If anyone touched it they would be dead.”

Kayleigh added: “It’s shocking. He took the part away and that’s the last we’ve heard.

“We’ve still not got any hot water.”

Paul said he’s been trying to get through to the council on the phone to get someone to come back out and fix the boiler once and for all, but he struggling to speak to anyone through.

For the moment, they’ve been left with no hot water – and no answers to when it will be fixed.

Paul added: “I can’t get through to them on the phone. Nobody’s been out to correct their mistakes.”

A spokesman for Renfrewshire Council said: “We have been working to resolve an issue with the hot water supply at this property but have been unable to make contact with the tenant to arrange a suitable time to gain access.

“All previous repairs within the property have been carried out safely at all times by fully qualified engineers and we will complete the outstanding repair as soon as we can access the property.

“We are also progressing plans to install a new gas central heating system and we will be in touch with the resident to discuss the installation.”
