Man set for trial over ‘un­fit to drive’ charge

A man is fac­ing trial ac­cused of be­ing un­fit to drive be­cause he was un­der the in­flu­ence.

An­thony Dailly, of Craig Road, Neil­ston, is said to have been “un­fit to drive through drink or drugs”in Main Street, Bar­rhead, on June 13 last year.

Dailly, 43, is charged with break­ing the Road Traf­fic Act 1988 and is also al­leged to have been in pos­ses­sion of cannabis, a class B drug, in the same street on the same day.

The case against Dailly called for the first time at Pais­ley Sher­iff Court this week.

Dailly was not present but a let­ter plead­ing not guilty was en­tered on his be­half.

A trial has been set for April, with a pre-trial hear­ing sched­uled for March, and Dailly has been told to ap­pear at both hear­ings.
