St Mir­ren’s Com­mu­nity Trust has launched a free life- chang­ing pro­gramme to help Bud­dies get fight­ing fit this new year.

Or­gan­is­ers of Foot­ball Fans in Train­ing hope to sign up 20 men and 20 women to take part in the 13-week fit­ness and ed­u­ca­tion course.

The pro­gramme, funded by the SPFL Trust and run by St Mir­ren’s char­ity arm with the help of spe­cial­ists coaches, aims to tackle obe­sity and pro­mote healthy liv­ing.

Gayle Bran­ni­gan, who heads the trust, is de­ter­mined to make a dif­fer­ence to peo­ple’s lives.

She said: “The SPFL Trust’s course runs for 13 weeks and dif­fers to the nor­mal weight loss pro­grammes out there, of­fer­ing ad­vice and prac­ti­cal ways to make changes to your life­style.

“The best part is St Mir­ren fans can sign up now for free.

“If you are a man or woman aged be­tween 35 and 65 with a waist size of 38 inches or more, FFIT may be just the ticket to help you kick off your new year with a new you and health­ier life­style.

“Every 90- minute ses­sion con­tains a dif­fer­ent topic, which in­cludes man­ag­ing your al­co­hol con­sump­tion, un­der­stand­ing food la­bels and bal­anc­ing your diet.

“There is also a phys­i­cal com­po­nent to each ses­sion.

“This can be a gen­tle walk, a cir­cuit ses­sion with our fully trained, friendly and mo­ti­va­tional coach­ing staff or a game of foot­ball.

“FFIT is open to those who en­joy foot­ball and those who just want make pos­i­tive changes to their health.

“You do not need to be a sup­porter of St Mir­ren to take part in the course and more im­por­tantly you will make friends and have great fun.”
