Driv­ers’ de­lay alert

Pais­ley mo­torists are braced for de­lays this week after it was an­nounced a main road in the town is to be shut for road­works.

Ren­frew­shire Coun­cil con­firmed Ren­frew Road, which runs from the M8 mo­tor­way to Pais­ley town cen­tre, will be tem­po­rar­ily closed be­tween Mon­day, Jan­uary 14 and Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 16, for car­riage im­prove­ment works.

The north­bound sec­tion of the road is to be shut off from Nid­dry Street to Nether­hill Road be­tween 8pm on Mon­day evening, to 6am on Wed­nes­day morn­ing.

Traf­fic is ex­pected to be bad as a re­sult of the clo­sure, with the fol­low­ing al­ter­na­tive routes rec­om­mended as a di­ver­sion: Nid­dry Street, Ren­frew Road, Wall­neuk, In­cle Street, Glas­gow Road, Arkle­ston Road, Gal­lowhill Road, Mar­jory Drive, Nether­hill Road, Ren­frew Road.

The road serves as a key ar­te­rial route through the Gal­lowhill area of the town, link­ing the town cen­tre to the M8 mo­tor­way in the north.

Ab­botsinch Re­tail Park is lo­cated just off Ren­frew Road, while West Col­lege Scot­land is lo­cated on the road.
