Family’s thanks for cash raised in memory of Matthew

-

More than £400 was raised for the Matthew Seymour Memorial Fund after a fun day of rugby.

Bishopton Rugby Club player Matthew, 21, died in 2014 following a cardiac arrest and the club hosts a fundraising event in his honour each year.

Cash raised from the day goes towards cardiac screening days for young people in the village.

A club spokesman said:“Following a great turnout on Matthew’s Day a total sum of £405 was donated to the Matthew Seymour Memorial Fund at Cardiac Risk in the Young.

“Thank you to everyone who took part. “This memorial fund continues to provide free cardiac screening for local young people.

“The next screening dates are May 18 and 19.

“This year the screening will take place in the Bishopton Sports and Social Club.”

Further information on booking will follow at the beginning of February.

Matthew’s mum Doreen Seymor said: “Thank you to everyone who came along and to everyone who donated a raffle prize or bought a ticket – thank you.

“Every penny contributes towards the two cardiac screening days in May.

“Matthew is missed every day and it’s lovely that the club remember him in this way.”
