Education spending is first class

-

Another very promising development that was discussed in parliament is the increased funding for colleges and universities pledged in the Budget.

The Scottish Government’s draft budget includes plans to increase higher education spending by £12.1 million over the coming year which will see the SNP maintaining investment in Scotland’s universities at over £1 billion.

Additionally, spending on colleges will also be increased – to the tune of £18.3 million – which will take investment in further education to over £606 million.

This is an amazing commitment from our Government and shows once again where the SNP’s priorities lie – in the education of Scotland’s young people and the creation of more positive opportunities for our kids.

In Paisley, we are very lucky to have the University of the West of Scotland and West College Scotland right on our doorstep and I know this increased funding will allow our local institutions to progress further and continue to flourish.
