Gary may be out...but he’s still kicking every ball for his Buddies

-

 With his contract running out at the end of the season, Gary MacKenzie insists he just has to take every day as it comes.

The big defender hasn’t had his troubles to seek as his injury woes were compunded with this season’s Achilles woe.

Having not played a single minute of football since penning a new deal at the end of last season, he admits that it is unlikely a deal would be forthcoming unless he can prove himself to his new manager, Oran Kearney.

But the 33-year-old is adamant he has no plans to retire if he believes that he can still do a job.

He said:“I have only spoke to the manager on the basis of being injured and him asking how the rehab was going.

“There has nothing been said about playing wise because I am still a bit away.

“He has got other things that are more important than me at this moment in time but I would like to think I can come back.

“Right now my priority is to get over this injury.

“That allows me to then play and if I finish the second half of the season then we will take it from there.

“Then everything kind of rolls together. If this injury doesn’t give me any bother then I know I can play and do a turn.”
