- JESUS CHRIST OF LATTERDAY SAINTS MARTYRS’ SANDYFORD CHURCH

Following the semi-annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held last weekend, services return to normal this Sunday with the monthly Fast & Testimony meeting starting at 10am. and conducted by Colin Beveridge. Classes for Priesthood (men), Relief Society (women) and Primary for the children will be held from 11.10am.

All will be made very welcome.

Both Young Men and Young Women organisati­ons meet at the church on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm.

The Family History Centre located in the church in Glenburn Road, Paisley is open to all those wishing to research their family history each Tuesday from 9.30am till 3.30pm.

There is no charge to use the facilities of the Family History Centre or the expertise of its consultant­s. Tomorrow morning at Montgomery Road at 10am the service of worship will be conducted by Rev Sandy Macdonald and Jim Boyd,worship leader and, at 11.15am at King

Street, the service of worship will be conducted by Rev John Campbell.

A warm welcome awaits you at either venue and you are invited to continue fellowship together by joining us for coffee and tea after the services.

During the services there are Sunday Clubs for the younger members of our congregati­on.

As usual the Friday Cafe at King Street will be open on Friday morning from 10am to noon where all will be made welcome. cream costs £3. If interested, please contact the Wynd Centre for tickets by Monday for catering.

The church office and Wynd Centre are closed from April 19 to April 23 for the Easter holiday. Maundy Thursday when we will share the service with St Ninian’s church. All are welcome at these services Next week Stuart Davidson will lead our Easter Sunday worship. by Vittoria and Ave verum corpus by Byrd. In the first part of the service the children of the Sunday School will carry in palm crosses and distribute them to the congregati­on.

In the second part the Passion Narrative according to Luke will be read.

Services for Holy Week will be held at 7.30pm Monday to Thursday. In addition there will be a three hour vigil on Good Friday from noon to 3pm to which you can come and go as you are able.

The first part of the vigil will consist of a performanc­e by the Abbey Choir of Stainer’s Crucifixio­n, that will be followed by a Reading of the Passion Narrative according to St John and finally a Meditation on the Seven Last Words from the cross accompanie­d by a string quartet playing Haydn’s music on these words.

On Good Friday and Easter Monday the Abbey gift shop and coffee shop will be closed, but will be open as usual on Holy Saturday, April 20. The shop has a wide variety of gifts, toys, souvenirs, jewellery and cards and presents for Easter.
