‘Lie can only win and hope for the best

-

Arthurlie are hopeful of breathing new life into their promotion push despite recent results leaving their hopes hanging by a thread.

Last weekend’s draw away to struggling Craigmark Burntonians was the latest blow for Duncan Sinclair’s men as they continue to push for a return to the top flight.

In a manic year for the Barrhead side, promotion was never the target. But they surpassed even their own expectations to give themselves a fighting chance.

Sinclair’s men welcome Irvine Vics to Dunterlie Park this afternoon as they look for a re-run of October’s 5-1 win away from home.

‘Lie’s hopes are out of their own hands now as they sit in fourth, but three points will see the pressure mount on Rossvale and Benburb above.

Championship rivals Neilston are once again without a game, as they sit idle following last week’s 4-0 win over Cumbernauld United.

Renfrew will be bidding to bounce back from their midweek defeat to title-chasing Hurlford at New Western Park after Darren Henderson’s men humbled them 4-0.

Colin Clark and Martin Ferry’s side are back in action this weekend as they travel away to Maryhill to face Clydebank, who are currently playing in Glasgow as Holm Park undergoes major redevelopment.

Renfrew also have a lot to contest with, albeit in the Premiership, as they try and avoid the drop back to the Championship.

THe 4-0 defeat in midweek done them no favours in the goal difference department as Kilbirnie Ladeside moved above them in the standings.

With the games running out, Clark and Ferry know they still need to pick up points in the closing weeks of the campaign.

And in League Two, Johnstone Burgh near ever closer to the end of a difficult season as they make the relatively short journey to Lanark United.

Jamie McKim’s men are battling a raft of injuries, but with little to play for other than pride, the Burgh are keen to see the season out with a victory.
