Victim needed seven stitches to his head after brutal attack

A man needed seven stitches to his head after a gang of thugs attacked him and his female pal with sticks.

The 30-year-old suffered a nasty gash to the top of his head when three yobs pounced on him at Johnstone High Street shortly after midnight yesterday.

His female friend, 36, suffered bruising in the rammy, which unfolded near to the junction of William Street and Rankine Street around 12.30am.

The man was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where medics stitched up a deep cut on the top of his head.

It’s understood he has since been released from hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a disturbanc­e on High Street, Johnstone around 12.30am on Tuesday.

“A 30-year-old man sustained a laceration to his head and was taken to the RAH for treatment.

“A 36- year- old female also suffered injuries as a result of the incident.

“Our enquiries are ongoing.” Three men aged, 26, 28, and 37 have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Meanwhile, police are also probing an unprovoked assault in Paisley.

A 36-year-old suffered a broken facial bone after he was struck by another man near Forbes Place and Causeyside Street around 5.20pm on Monday evening.

It’s understood his attacker asked for a light before launching a completely unprovoked attack.

The man was taken to Paisley’s Accident and Emergency where medics discovered he had suffered a fracture.

Forensics officers were yesterday examining the scene for evidence.

A Police Scotland spokesman added: “We are investigat­ing after a 36-year-old man was seriously assaulted at Causeyside Street and Forbes Place, in Paisley at around 5.20pm on Monday.

“The man sustained a serious facial injury as a result.

“Our enquiries are continuing.” A 36- year- old man has been arrested in connection with assault charges and a report prepared fro the procurator fiscal.
