Boot camp awaits for Neilston squad
Neilston stars better strap in and get ready as they get set to be put through their paces at a military style boot camp.
Derek Carson and Chris Cameron are sending their side to Ayrshire this weekend to test their mettle ahead of the First Division’s big kick-off.
The Farmer’s Boys management team are keen to see what their side have in the tank as they bid to bring the new players together.
Carson told Express Sport:“We will go to the Ayrshire Warriors boot camp and see what the boys are capable of.
“It will be obstacle courses, dragging tyres, working on teamwork – it’s a little bit of everything really.
“We have seen other teams doing it in the past and we thought we would give it a real go.
“It is something a bit different but it will keep the boys on their toes while also bringing them all together.”
But Carson revealed that the management team won’t be getting off lightly.
He laughed:“Myself and Chris will also be doing it – I don’t think the boys would forgive us if we just stood back and watched.
“I expect to be in agony on Monday morning but I’ll give it my best shot.”
Neilston have been back in pre-season training for the best part of a fortnight now as the Brig O’Lea side look to mount a promotion push.
And Carson says he has plenty of ideas up his sleeves to keep things fresh.
He added:“Training has been brilliant up until now and the boys all seem to be really buying into what we are trying to achieve.
“We won’t have our annual away day this year but we will be taking the boys to footgolf for a little bit of competitive team bonding closer to the season.
“Everything is heading in the right direction and we are pleased with what we have managed to get done so far.”
