Fun day to honour Layla

-

A charity will celebrate the life of a toddler who lost a cancer battle with a family fun day.

A Helping Hand will stage A Light for Layla — in memory of the Renfrew three-year-old, who passed away in January last year after a brave fight against neuroblastoma.

Layla Greene captured the hearts of the community and A Helping Hand Paisley’s fun day is the latest in a number of events held in her honour.

Founder of the organisation, Steph Hill, pledged to Layla’s mum Louise Cunningham that she would host the event, which will take place on September 1.

Steph and other volunteers already work tirelessly at their three soup kitchens in Foxbar, Ferguslie Park and Paisley High Street to help those in need.

Taking place at Kelburne Cricket Club, Barshaw Drive, Paisley, from noon to 4pm, the cash raised at the event will be split between A Helping Hand and Children With Cancer UK.

The charity was chosen by Louise, who Steph says is delighted the event is being held in tribute to her daughter.

Steph told the Express: “I promised Louise I would try and do something in Layla’s honour.”

The event will have plenty for families to enjoy, with performances from singers and dancers.

There will be lots of different craft stalls, food vendors and 11 different inflatable activities to keep the kids entertained.
