Jack and Scots must raise their game against Bangladesh
Paisley’s Lorna Jack was in action for the Scottish woman’s cricket team over the weekend.
She helped the Scots to a rain-affected win over the USA on Saturday but the side lost out to Papau New Guinea the following day.
Scotland are attempting to qualify for the Twenty20 World cup.
They now take on Bangladesh in a vital match this afternoon at Forthill in Dundee.
Saturday’s win over the Americans was limited to just seven overs per side due to the persistent rain.
It was effectively a shootout and the Scots smashed an impressive 60 runs in their 42 balls in a match that was also played in Dundee.
Jack was the fifth batter and ended on one run not out from just one delivery.
Scotland finished on 60/3 with the USA only managing 30 runs in reply ensuring a 30run win for the hosts.
On Sunday, the Scots found it tougher in a match that went the distance.
Visitors Papa New Guinea secured victory with just three balls to go after restricting Scotland to 101 from their 20 overs – an impressive feat considering the Scots had smashed 60 from seven overs the previous day.
Paisley’s Jack returned to her position as opener but could only manage 14 runs from 15 balls before being caught off the bowling by Sibona Jimmy.
Skipper Kathryn Bryce steadied the ship with a terrific 45 off 50 balls but support at the other end was limited on the ground.
101 was still a daunting target for Papa New Guinea but despite the loss of some early wickets, they recovered to beat their hosts by six wickets.
It was a frustrating afternoon for Jack, who warmed up for the doubleheader with a fine 58 against Namibia last Thursday.
The squad must now regroup for today’s clash with Bangladesh.
