Probe as yobs torch car at playing fields
Two balaclava wearing yobs torched a car in Renfrew playing fields in broad daylight before fleeing.
The brazen crooks set fire to the grey Renault Megane in Kirklandneuk Park around 6.15pm on Sunday evening.
Detectives say the pair dumped the motor before using an accelerant to set it alight.
The first suspect is described by police as being a male, around 5ft 8ins tall, wearing a black balaclava, a black puffer jacket and dark trousers.
The second male is described as being around 5ft 5ins tall and was also wearing a black balaclava and dark clothing.
They were seen fleeing the burning car on foot.
Detective Inspector Bob Bowie from Paisley CID said his officers are investigating the incident and asked for anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “We a re investigating after two men wearing black balaclavas were seen setting fire to a car in playing fields in Renfrew.
“This was a reckless and potentially very dangerous act given this is park used by children. It would have also been a frightening experience for anyone who saw the incident.”
He added: “We are very keen to trace the individuals involved.
“If you witnessed what happened then please get in touch with officers.
“I’d also ask anyone with dashcam footage or CCTV in the area to check if you captured anything that might be useful to our investigation.”
