Builders submit plans for 50 new homes
Plans for more than 50 homes in Houston have been brought forward by developers.
CALA Homes (West) and Acorn Property Group have submitted a planning application to Renfrewshire Council for the creation of a new development in the village.
If approved, it could see the construction of 57 homes at a site south-east of Woodend House in Houston Road.
The proposals include properties ranging from contemporary two-bedroom cottage flats to five-bedroom detached properties.
The plans also consist of 14 affordable homes and a green open space, as well as the removal of high trees.
Houston residents were recently encouraged to attend two community engagement events, which provided opportunity for those in attendance to learn more about the proposed development and share their feedback with the project team.
Local schools and the community council have also been contacted about the proposals and have been offered consultations with the development team.
Andrew Duncan, land director for CALA Homes (West), said:“It has been imperative for the project team to engage with the local community from the outset and we received lots of useful feedback at our events.
“We recognise Houston as a popular and thriving location, and we have shaped our development to fit in with its surroundings and to meet the demands of people we expect will want to live there.
“We’re committed to delivering a highquality development that is accessible for a range of home-owners and we’re hopeful that Renfrewshire Council shares our vision.”
