A.C. Whyte sign off the year in style
A construction company has rounded off a successful year with a host of awards.
A.C. Whyte works across
Scotland with local authorities and housing associations to regenerate communities. The firm specialises in energy efficiency.
Owner Bob Phin was presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s INCA Awards, which celebrates innovation, quality and excellence in external wall insulation.
Bob’s award acknowledged his career, which spans over three decades.
He was instrumental in growing A.C. Whyte from a humble £250,000 turnover to the business that exists today and has a turnover peaking at £13million.
Bob has successfully grown the business with the support of an incredibly talented and loyal team, many with him from the beginning of his 30-year journey.
In December 2015, he handed over the managing director role to his daughter Jennifer.
Maureen Stevenson, head of marketing and development at the
Barrhead business, said: “Bob and the entire A.C. Whyte team have consistent, intrinsic values, coupled with our ‘right first time’ approach and our unwavering commitment to delivering quality as standard for our clients and their residents.
“We put residents at the heart of everything we do and every member of the team is dedicated to making the residents’ experience a positive one.
“The whole team deserves this recognition.”
Earlier this year, A.C. Whyte welcomed 12 students into its skills academy.
Bosses found they were struggling to find new staff with the right skills and attitude for the company.
They teamed up with West College Scotland to launch its own skills academy.
It welcomed 12 students through the doors last September and seven have now been offered full-time positions with the company.
They were keen to attract schoolleavers and older people who were maybe looking for a change in career so worked with Invest in Renfrewshire.
