MP Gavin gets back to work

-

Re- elected MP Gavin Newlands is back at Westminster and eager to get back to business.

After holding the Paisley and Renfrewshire North seat at last Thursday’s General Election with a majority of nearly 12,000 votes, Mr Newlands is getting things moving in parliament and in the constituency.

Mr Newlands said: “This week I’m back at Westminster being sworn in and once again taking up casework on behalf of over 72,000 constituents.

“It’s humbling to have been re-elected for the second time to represent my constituents as their MP, and with a big increase in my majority. I’ve served the people of Paisley and Renfrewshire North for the last four-and-a-half years and thanks to their support I’ll be serving them in the months and years ahead.

“My constituency office is open for business and my office team are taking up casework already and fighting for a better deal for constituents who need my help. However you voted last Thursday, I am here whenever you need my support.

“Sadly, Tory attacks on the rest of society are likely to get worse and more harsh over the coming months and years. That’s why I’ll continue to be an open and accessible MP with surgeries across the constituency.

“We have a gre at constituency, but also a great number of challenges, and I’ll continue to play my part in helping to tackle these challenges and continue the work of building a better Scotland.

“The results across Renfrewshire and Scotland show that change must come – and all of us must stand up against Boris Johnson’s extreme agenda, and for Scotland’s democratic rights.”
