Duo are accused of teen assaults

-

Two men are facing trial accused of attacking teenagers in Paisley.

David Holderness and Kyle Bagen are said to have set upon the pair in Gauze Street.

Prosecutors claim that, on October 12, last year, Holderness, 26, assaulted his alleged 15-year-old victim, who can’t be named due to his age, by punching him on the head, leaving him injured.

Bagen, 23, is also said to have punched his alleged victim, who also can’t be named for legal reasons, leaving the 16- year- old injured.

Holderness, of East Kilbride, faces three other charges - one of resisting, obstructing or hindering a police officer, and two of behaving in a threatening or abusive way.

It’s claimed he struggled violently with PC Gary Bruce.

He also faces two charges of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

It’s alleged that, at Gauze Street and in a police car heading to Helen Street police station, in Glasgow’s Govan, he acted aggressively towards police officers, repeatedly banged his head off the vehicle, shouted, swore and made offensive comments, in an offence prosecutors claim was aggravated by prejudice relating to disability.

The final charge he faces states that he behaved in a similar way once at Helen Street, also making homophobic remarks, threatening violence and refusing to stop when asked to do so.

The case against Bagen called at Paisley Sheriff Court for a pre-trial hearing, and was adjourned until next week, when both men are due to go on trial.
