‘INFECTED’ TEEN SPAT IN COP’S FACE

Yob’s sick assault in early hours

- DAVID CAMPBELL

A teenage girl spat in a cop’s face while screaming that she had been infected with the deadly coronavirus.

The lout also tried to gob on two other officers in Glencorse Road, near Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The out-of-control teen kicked-off and aimed at the cops when they went to speak to her in the street at around 3am.

She was quickly arrested and placed in a

spit hood.

But when she was taken into custody and the hood was removed she spat directly in a cop’s face - while shouting she had contracted coronavirus.

It’s understood the suspect had been showing symptoms of the disease and had been told to self isolate prior to the sickening incident.

The officers involved now face an anxious wait to find out if they have been infected.

The virus, which is transmitted through contact with infected bodily fluid or surfaces, has already claimed the lives of more than 50 people in Scotland since the outbreak.

Police Scotland officers have been out enforcing strict new rules limiting non essential movement and travel in a bid to reduce the spread of the virus.

Building work in Paisley’s Brewster Avenue was shut down on Saturday as it was deemed non essential and three men were handed fines for being outside without a reasonable excuse in the town’s Park Road the same day.

They told officers they had no intention of following the new rules.

The Gleniffer Braes and Clyde Muirshiel Park have been closed to vehicles after hundreds of people flocked to the Renfrewshire beauty spots at the weekend - against government guidance.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed a 17-year-old woman had been arrested in connection with assault charges and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
