Saints beef up the boardroom
Kibble ties are strengthened by appointments
St Mirren have announced key behind- the - s cenes appointments as the club’s unique partnership with Kibble takes shape.
Mark MacMillan joins the board as a director, while David Jamieson takes up a new full-time club operational post as general manager.
The move comes after Kibble bought 27.5 per cent of chairman Gordon Scott’s shares, with SMISA due to take its own stake to 51 per cent before the end of next year.
MacMillan, head of corporate services for Kibble Group and former leader of Renfrewshire Council – where he led Paisley’s bid to be UK City of Culture – joins Kibble’s chief executive Jim Gillespie as one of Kibble’s two nominated directors.
Jamieson begins his role as general manager after holding several senior management positions in his 15 years at Kibble.
The club say he will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the club’s non- football activities, including the upkeep and development of the Simple Digital Arena, Ralston training ground and facilitating Kibble’s young workforce development activities at
St Mirren.
St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott welcomed the appointments.
He said: “When Kibble’s investment was announced, we said St Mirren’s existing staff would be supported by Kibble’s expertise in areas such as HR, finance, marketing and communications, among others.
“The appointments of Mark and David are direct examples of this and show how the relationship between our two historic Paisley organisations is growing to the benefit of St Mirren.
“I look forward to handing over my day- to- day duties to David over the coming months and passing on the knowledge I have gained over the last four years.
“At this stage, I have no intention of reducing my involvement with the club and see the appointment of David as an opportunity for me to focus on things that can take the club forward.
“As a board, we have had many discussions about ideas we would like to investigate, but, up until now, our focus has been on improving the infrastructure of the club, putting us on a strong financial footing and getting us back to the Premiership.
“I look forward to helping implement these new ideas alongside David, Tony Fitzpatrick and the board.”
