Gifts keep spirits up at Craigielea

- DAVID CAMPBELL

Grateful staff and residents at a care home are overwhelmed after being swamped with generous donations during lockdown.

Jenni Mack, activities coordinator at Craigielea Care Home in Renfrew, said the community has rallied to help them in their time of need.

They have been given hand sanitiser, lotion, Easter eggs, donuts and much more during the ongoing pandemic.

Visiting to the French Street home has been stopped in a bid to prevent the virus spreading and Jenni said the gifts are keeping everyone’s spirts up during the difficult time.

She said: “The whole community has been so kind and generous with their donations during the lockdown. It really has been unbelievable and we are so grateful to everyone who has given.

“The staff are working so hard to look after the residents, so for them to get the odd wee gift just gives them a huge boost as well.

“The pandemic means there are no visits, so the residents have been enjoying getting little treats and we are doing everything we can to keep people safe, but also to keep things as normal as we can for them.”

She added: “I just want to say a huge thank you to Krispy Kreme

Donuts at Braehead, which sent us over 200 donuts, Greggs, which sent us cakes, Co-op, which sent flowers and Domino’s for sending pizzas.

“Bacardi sent us hand sanitiser, Asda Govan gave us Easter eggs while our local dentist gave us gloves.

“We also got handmade cards for us to write and post from Karen McClure.

“Dominique, from Bodyshop, donated a bundle of hand lotions and Frame of Mind sent in handmade bracelets for all the staff.

“The children at Moorpark Pre-Five Centre sent us Easter eggs too.

“We can’t thank you all enough.”
