Saints’ big bash is drum-thing special

- DAVID CAMPBELL

Saints fans are set to drum up a storm for a great cause.

The St Mirren Charitable Foundation is urging supporters to make some noise and raise some cash in a special Twitter takeover on Friday.

With the day culminating in a set from Linwood group Drums N’ Roses streamed live from the Simple Digital Arena.

Foundation bosses said everyone can take part by sending clips of them in the Saints stripes playing and instrument or bin lid of their choice and donating to the organisation.

So whether you are a dab had at the bongos or an amateur wheelie bin drummer - there is room for everyone.

Gayle Brannigan, St Mirren Charitable Foundation chief executive, issued a rallying cry to fans to take part and make a difference.

“We want as many people as possible to get involved,” she said.

“We want to see your kids, your granny, your dog all getting stuck in for a great cause. You don’t have to be a drummer to take part, find a bin lid, a your pots and pans, anything, that makes a noise and send us a clip of you playing them.

“Also if you have a musical instrument why not play us a tune and send it in?

“We will be posting clips on Twitter from 3pm, starting off with the W7 fans group, all the way up the main event, Drums N’ Roses live from pitch side at the Simple Digital Arena.

“So why not get on your Stripes and get involved?

“All the money donated will be used to support our community programmes and out ongoing efforts to support groups such as the Star Project, who are helping some of the most vulnerable people in with access to essential supplies.

“Any small amount you can give will go a long way.”
