New job will help people with a disability
Scottish Labour MSP Mary Fee and Inclusion Scotland are working together to offer an internship for a person with a disability to coordinate a research project to improve the lives of disabled people in Scotland.
Mary Fee MSP, a Scottish Labour equalities spokesperson, is hiring a new research intern in partnership with disability charity Inclusion Scotland as part of the national Disability Internship Programme.
The successful candidate will receive the UK Living Wage rate of £9.30 per hour and will work from home with possible visits to the Scottish Parliament and Mary’s Paisley office, depending on Scottish Government coronavirus advice.
The position is open to people with disabilities, including deaf people, with the work focusing on the campaign for
Changing Places toilets. Applicants should be able to demonstrate skills, knowledge and some experience in current affairs, politics and the Scottish Parliament and have an awareness of equalities and accessibility issues.
Applications close at 10am on September 21 with interviews to be held in early October.
Anyone looking for further information should email interns@inclusionscotland.org or visit the Inclusion Scotland website.
Speaking about the internship opportunity, Ms Fee said:“I am delighted to be taking part in the Disability Internship Programme and I thank Inclusion Scotland for allowing me to offer this opportunity to a person with a disability.
“This is a paid role and an exciting opportunity for people with an interest in working in politics or equalities. Our politics needs to be more representative and the internship programme is a small step in increasing the voices of disabled people.”
