Donation points for annual toy appeal

-

A number of shops and businesses have signed up as donation points for Renfrewshire Christmas Toy Bank.

Volunteers with the group are gearing up for another busy festive season and are determined the pandemic won’t stop them spreading Christmas cheer.

In Paisley, Gantry, Brew, Comicrazy Cafe, Jacks at Brodie Park and C Allan and Son accountants will all accept brand new toys and gifts for the appeal.

Davidson’s Bar, Sprinkles and Ferry Nice Food in Renfrew is also a donation point along with Jim’s Food and Wine in Elderslie and Houston village paper shop.

Renfrew mum Lauren RoySutherland started the group three years ago which works with charities, community groups and social work staff who refer children who may be missing out due to a tough home life.

She’s keen for the presents to feel personal and suited to the age and personality of every child.

She said:“I did some research and found some charities would give out a bag of generic toys to children of different ages. I wanted this to be more personal.

“We’ve had great feedback from children and particularly teenagers who have said it felt like a really personal present.”

Suggestions for gift ideas include LOL dolls, arts and craft, Lego, baby toys, make up, perfume/after shave and footballs.

All donations must be new.
