Cops target parties
At least six illegal lockdown parties being staged in the area needed the intervention of police.
The Express attempted to access the data for a two week period in September.
That would have revealed what streets the boozy gatherings were in full swing.
But Police Scotland ruled the Freedom of Information Request would cost more than £600 to research.
They say five homes in Renfrewshire and one in East Renfrewshire received a knock on the door.
In Renfrewshire the first party incident was on Tuesday, September 1 where the revellers were “dispersed.”
All the others were on Saturday, September 12 - the first weekend after greater lockdown rules were put into force in Renfrewshire.
In the East Renfrewshire incident the home owner was warned.
Of the other four incidents there were two warnings, one “advice provided” and in the final incident the party- goers were moved out.
The force’s Information Disclosure Officer said: “The system used by Police Scotland to record incidents reported does use a series of categorisations but ‘party’/ ‘gathering’ is not one of them.
“Any such incidents could be recorded under a variety of categorisations depending on the nature of the call and the details reported - including but not limited to noise, disturbance, p u b l i c nuisance or neighbour dispute
“All potentially relevant incidents would have to be individually reviewed for potential relevance and a subjective assessment made as to whether or not it could be described as a party or gathering - an exercise which I estimate would far exceed the cost limit set out in the Fees Regulations given the volume of incidents reported.”
