CARLA TALBOT

-

A jilted lout who slapped his terrified exgirlfriend across the face and chillingly said he would stab her and then himself has been caged.

Kieran Anderson, made the violent threats towards Natalia Garden after she ended their nine week relationship on August 26 this year.

The 24-year-old bully called her vile names, shouted at her and slapped her across the face during an argument outside her home in Paisley’s Auchentorlie Quadrant.

A terrified Ms Garden even returned to her home to find him sitting on her front step holding a kitchen knife during the chilling incident.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard how Anderson did not take the news that she wanted to end their relationship well and repeatedly refused to leave when Ms Garden asked.

Depute fiscal David McDonald said: “About 12.30pm, they were within Ms Garden’s home address where she informed him that she wished to end the relationship.

“He was upset, but stood up, picked up his belongings and left.

“He was then seen to head towards Hawkhead railway station around 1pm.

“A neighbouring witness was in her property directly above Ms Garden’s and she could hear them engaging in a verbal argument.

“She then sees the accused leaving and heading in the direction of the station.

“Around 15 minutes later, Ms Garden was in the kitchen when she heard a tap at the window and she saw Kieran Anderson.

“She exited her property to speak with him and ask him to leave.

“He refused to do so, stating that he was waiting for a lift.

“He then began shouting and swearing at her,

calling her a ‘fat cow’ and a ‘slut’.

“She asked him to leave again and then returned to her home address.

“She went back out again five minutes later to asked him to leave.

“At this point he slapped her across the face.

“The witness was still in the property and could hear shouting and Ms Garden repeatedly asking the accused to leave.

“She then heard her shouting ‘you’ve just skelped me’.”

Ms Garden fled to a nearby shop, where she asked staff to call police, telling them that her boyfriend had just hit her.

However, she ran off before the call was completed and returned home.

It was then that she spotted Anderson sitting at her door with a large black kitchen knife between his legs.

Mr McDonald added: “Ms Garden recognised the knife as coming from her house.

“She pushed her way passed him to get back into her home.

“It was at this point he stated that he would stab her and then himself and tell police that she did it.

“At this point, the accused was agitated and upset.

“Ms Garden remained in her home and contacted police, who traced the accused on Seedhill Road, Paisley and arrested him.”

Appearing via video link, Anderson pled guilty to shouting, swearing, uttering offensive remarks and threats towards Natalia Garden while in the possession of a knife on August 26.

He also admitted slapping her on the head.

Defending Anderson, Angela Campbell said he had been taking street Valium around the time of the offence to cope with losing his job.

She said: “When he is in employment, he is a very hard worker but had not been coping well with losing his job.

“He knows this in no way excuses his behaviour towards his ex partner.”

Sheriff David Pender warned Anderson - who has a previous conviction for knife possession, that he would have been in far more serious trouble if he had brought a knife from his own home to confront his ex.

He said: “Your last conviction was for possession of a knife. If you had taken one to her property then this would be a far more serious offence.

“I understand this was a moment of madness and that you want to put it behind you.”

Anderson, whose address was given as Low Moss Prison, was jailed for nine months.
