By George Tories sold their soul to the devil

-

Happy New Year to everyone and I hope it is a better one for you all.

It will continue to be challenging for everyone but, as I said last week, there is always hope.

Last week we heard that another new vaccine for Covid-19 will be available from today - one that appears to be easier to transport and store.

So, there is something to look forward to as we welcome this New Year.

Although we have some things to look forward to, unfortunately the Tories have further developed their particular brand of toxicity.

The Scottish Parliament was recalled last week to debate the socalled deal between the UK and the European Union.

As expected, the debate was comical from the Conservatives.

Well, it would have been if their so-called deal wasn’t so devastating to the Scottish economy.

As we all know, it was the Conservative Party that dragged

Scotland out of the EU.

All of us have been thrown under the Tory Brexit bus.

Do we all remember that big red bus that promised the earth? After last week it is seen for the fraud that it was.

Conservative MSP after Conservative MSP got up – some of whom had voted to remain – and made fools of themselves as they sold their souls to the Westminster devil.

There was no coherence to their arguments, other than appeasing their Westminster cronies.

This is, however, the beginning of a New Year and most Scots have a tradition of looking forward rather than back.

The timing of this New Year could not be better as we can now use 2021 as the year we get rid of the UK.

Last week, we saw the Tories for that they truly are.

It is their belief that they have a divine right to rule in Westminster.

They also have no interest in Scotland because, as we all know, we have never voted for them.

But, at the same time, they will continue to forget about all of us here in Paisley and the rest of Scotland.

There was an air of disappointment across the chamber as we debated the UK Brexit deal. For a middle-aged person like me, who has spent nearly all of his life as a European, it was a sad, sad, moment.

But none of this emotion came from the Tory benches.

They are quite happy to continue being Boris’ little minions.

Not one original thought in their heads ... and the dishonesty in their arguments is almost laughable.

The Tories have a very cynical attitude and it is a very Westminster one. They have no interest in our communities and this shows us, once again, why we must get rid of the Westminster baggage we currently carry.

After a very difficult year for everyone - after a year like no other - we must look forward and see how we can build that better tomorrow for all our families and communities.

The union is dead and now it is time for independence and controlling our own destiny.

During 2020 nearly all the polls stated that the majority of Scots now believe in independence.

We must move forward and Scotland needs to build towards a better future.

We still have hope, we can still make that difference and create a better tomorrow for our kids.

It is in our own hands now and we must grasp this opportunity.

At the beginning of this new year, let us all wish each other all the best and, as always, look to the future.

Happy New Year to everyone and I hope it is a good one for you and all of your family.
