Lights, camera, action for Paisley film

-

Cameras will roll in May after moviemakers succeeded in raising the budget to shoot the first episode.

If follows a trailer teasing A True Mismatch and now means filming will begin in Paisley.

Lead actor and co-writer Daniel Reynolds said:“We hit our target of £3,500 in just 13 days, which is an amazing achievement.

“Now we have stretched it to £5,000 which will allow us to get the second episode in the bag.

“We have had some much support from Paisley locals, people from the US and all around the UK.”

Johnstone-based Daniel,29, and his team are hoping the planned TV series will get snapped up by a distributor.

The Victorian era crime thriller is set in London - but Paisley’s historic architecture provides the backdrop.

It’s a classic tale of the haves and have-nots.

Most scenes will be shot in the town, Quarriers Village, Kilbarchan, and Ayrshire.

Daniel and co-writer and director Kriss Scott, have already penned the entire first series.

The initial £3,500 will finance costumes, film permits, pay for cast and crew and pitch the 90-second trailer to TV moguls for network distribution.

Crowdfunding backers can pay as much as they can spare, but £60 guarantees a role as an extra, £100 for behind the scenes access and £200 for an executive producer credit.

Daniel added:“We will be investing in the local economy by using local cast, crew, catering and locations.

“Paisley must be one of the best places in the UK to shoot period film and I cannot believe there has never been a major series that has emerged from the town.”
