Kibble boss welcomes £10k boost for ‘fast and accurate’covid testing

- EXPRESS REPORTER

Kibble, one of Scotland’s leading children’s charities, has received a £ 10,000 donation from a Covid-19 testing company.

This will help ensure the organisation can continue to provide vital care for some of the country’s most vulnerable young people.

As one of the UK’s biggest testing providers, Cignpost Diagnostics has already provided routine testing for the charity free of charge and has now made the donation to continue supporting Kibble as it provides essential care.

Paisley organisation Kibble provides a range of services for at risk young people aged from five to 26 who may have experienced trauma or adversity.

With residential, foster and secure placements among the charity’s services, care for the vulnerable young people at Kibble has become even more essential throughout the pandemic, with strict health and safety measures implemented to protect them and staff.

The donation will be used to fund fast and reliable regular PCR testing for staff that will allow the charity to continue to operate safely.

Cignpost Diagnostics has testing centres across the UK.

Jim Gillespie, chief executive of Kibble, said: “We are very grateful for this incredibly generous offer from Cignpost Diagnostics.

“It is obvious that Covid-19 will continue to bring challenges for us all for a considerable period of time, so it is essential that we have fast and accurate testing to maintain a high level of care as safely as possible for our young people and our staff.

“The donation from Cignpost Diagnostics enables us to not only minimise any effects on our current care services but ensures that we can expand to meet the needs of young people across the country, amid concerns of an increase in the need for placements as a result of the pandemic.”

Many of the young people cared for by Kibble have experienced significant trauma in their lives and Kibble offers dedicated care and support to help them move forward.

This includes residential and community support, as well as dedicated schools and wellbeing services.

Christian Corney, chief executive of Cignpost Diagnostics, added: “We’re committed to reassuring people that they are covid-free during this difficult time.

“Testing plays a huge role for many organisations at the moment, allowing them to continue their work safely.

“We know that Kibble’s work has become even more important during the pandemic so we’re extremely happy to be able to support them to maintain the incredible services they provide to the community.”
