Uni leads project to tackle stalking
Paisley’s university is helping pioneer a major project to help tackle abusive behaviour and stalking.
The team at the University of the West of Scotland has helped create the Centre of Excellence, which experts hope will conduct groundbreaking research into abuse and stalking in society.
The centre – which could be based in Paisley - is set to be unveiled at the firstever international stalking conference, which starts tomorrow as part of National Stalking Awareness Week.
Experts from all over the globe will be taking part in the Dynamics Between the Stalker and the Victim conference ahead of the new centre being discussed.
The initiative is a partnership between Action Against Stalking and UWS.
Paisley- based Ross Deuchar, professor of criminology and criminal justice at UWS, and interim director of the centre, said: “I am pleased that we are able to launch the centre as part of the first-ever international stalking conference, which brings together worldleading stalking experts for a groundbreaking three-day event.”
