The battling Buddies overcame an early setback to wrestle all three points from Ross County and jump back into seventh spot.

A depleted St Mirren side decimated by injuries quickly found themselves behind in Dingwall last night after Jordan White’s clever flick broke the deadlock.

The visitors held on and were much improved in the second half, quickly levelling through Lee Erwin’s clinical header as the striker returned to haunt his former side.

Winger Ilkay Durmus then produced a fabulous first-time finish to give St Mirren the lead, with Kyle McAllister inches away from making it three with a low strike that cracked off the inside of the post.

Penalty specialist McGrath did put the gloss on the scoreline from the spot late on, with the win seeing the Paisley side leapfrog Dundee United back into seventh spot with the Terrors having lost 3-0 at Rugby Park.

Jim Goodwin, again watching on from the stands as he served the second game of his touchline ban, could only name five substitutions after his squad suffered a spate of injuries.

While Marcus Fraser was eventually passed fit to play against his former side, there was a serious reshuffle as defender Richard Tait came into the holding midfield spot vacated by Jake Doyle-Hayes.
