Going green

A veterans’ charity is shouting about the ways it has been going green ahead of today’s Earth Day 2021.

Erskine has installed solar panels on its new apartments, plans to replace all vehicles with either fully electric or hybrid, installed water monitoring systems to minimise waste and maximise efficiencies, and plans to change all its light fittings to energy efficient LED by 2025.

The charity, which runs two care homes for veterans in Bishopton, also asks staff to turn off heating if offices aren’t in use and only use colour photocopying when necessary.

A cycle to work scheme also encourages staff to leave their car at home.

The theme of Earth Day 2021 is #restoreourearth. It is a global day of activism which aims to diversity, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide.
