No covid patients admitted to intensive care units
There are no Covid- 19 patients in intensive care beds in Renfrewshire, a new report has revealed.
Shared with councillors at a pandemic briefing on Friday, the report shows the number of people being hospitalised with Covid-19 across the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde area has fallen by 50 per cent in just two weeks.
It reveals that there were 78 people in NHSGGC hospitals - including Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital - on April 6.
But that fell to 38 on April 20.
Over the same period, the number of people in ICU dropped from six to zero.
In her report to councillors, Renfrewshire Council chief executive Sandra Black said: “Data over the past two weeks has continued to show sustained decreases in the numbers being hospitalised and requiring intensive care with Covid- 19 in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board area, with noone requiring treatment in intensive care currently.
“These are probably
now the most significant indicators of progress in reducing the impact of the virus.”
The hospital figures come as the local authority has also confirmed that huge swathes of the region are covid free.
There are currently 28 individual neighbourhoods which, as of April 20, had recorded zero infections.
Only one areaJohnstone South West - was experiencing case rates of over 150 cases per 100,000 residents on the same date.
Ms Black added: “Positive cases from tests in Renfrewshire are similarly reducing with the seven-day average daily figure on April 21 just under 8.5 per day – down from 13 per day when last reported a fortnight ago.
“This figure is currently reducing very steadily and is currently a very positive sign of progress within Renfrewshire.”
