Make it mellow yellow for Beatson

-

Paisley will be awash with yellow later this week as flaxen- clad fundraisers and canary-draped charity champions raise cash for the Beatson Cancer Centre Charity.

Turn it Yellow Day will see workplaces, home offices and shops across Renfrewshire adorned in their brightest yellows as part of a fundraiser on Thursday.

The event is part of a new campaign, See the Difference, which aims to raise £100,000 to fund an MRI scanner and the training and salary costs of specialist staff.

It is championing efforts involving yellow as it is the colour of joy, hope, optimism and happiness, something the charity likes to inspire in both fundraisers and patients of the Beatson alike.

Ethne McPherson, head of therapeutic radiography at The Beatson, said: “This MRI scanner allows us to visualise and outline tumours at a whole new level.”

The MRI scanner will be the first of its kind in Scotland and directly improve the outcomes of those suffering from brain, prostate, spinal and gynaecological cancers and increase the Beatson’s ability to undertake clinical trials.

Fundraisers can share their yellow pictures with the hashtags #turnityellow and #seethedifference on social media while people can also call 0141 212 0505 to receive a fundraising pack.

Bold yellow- wearing fundraisers can also text 70450 to donate a £ 10 or offices can go online to ww. beatsoncancercharity. org/mri to donate an amount o f their choosing.
