Goodwin: We can win battle of Saints

-

Saints boss Jim Goodwin believes his men will take on the cup “favourites” in the semi-final as they bid to go all the way in the Scottish Cup.

Just minutes after Kyle McAllister’s winning penalty on Monday evening, the Saints were drawn first out of the hat against League Cup winners St Johnstone, while Hibs were pitted against Dundee United in the second final-four clash.

The battle of the Saints will take place on Sunday, May 9, and Goodwin feels the Perth side will head into the tie as top dogs, as far as the bookies are concerned.

He said: “St Johnstone might be favourites for the cup. But it’s a tie we can look forward to.

“I’m delighted for the boys and we can look forward to the trip to Hampden.”

The gaffer joked that the penalties drama was not for the faint-hearted.

He added: “I am delighted for the supporters at home, I’m sure some of them watched from behind the couch.

“But God knows how long I can handle this kind of stress.”
