One covid death
One person has died of Covid-19 in Renfrewshire in the past week.
Official figures released by the National Records of Scotland now puts the covid death toll for the local authority area at 523.
It means 181 people have died of the virus this year so far.
The death rate has dropped from a peak of 34 deaths in the week ending January 4.
The death did not, the Express understands, take place in a care home.
It comes as the number of new cases in
Renfrewshire continues to fall.
The local authority area currently has a covid infection rate of 26.2 per 100,000.
Last week the Express reported how the number of new daily infections had dropped to single figures for the first time in six months.
In the week to Sunday, 45 new cases were recorded.
In contrast, in the first week of January the number of new cases was more than ten times that amount.
