Help hospice by snapping up some art

- ALISON RENNIE

An online art exhibition is helping to raise much-needed funds for Accord Hospice.

So far, a fantastic £2,500 has been raised for the Paisley hospice by the sale of 13 paintings and fundraisers are hoping art lovers will snap up the remaining 30 paintings before the exhibition closes at the end of May.

Fundraiser Vanessa Robinson approached the artists who regularly exhibit with the hospice to see if they’d be willing to donate one painting.

She said: “I had a fantastic response to this and was amazed and touched by the generosity and help provided by our artists.

“Our annual art exhibition takes place in September and we will be planning to host this once again in a covid-friendly fashion.

“Last September, this was one of the only live events we were able to hold as we were able to restrict the numbers in the building at any one time.

“The hospice has been hit hard by the pandemic, with very few of our events able to take place and our shops unable to open.

“A huge thank-you to everyone who has supported our virtual events over the last year and made generous donations.

“It has allowed us to plan with confidence for the next year ahead. “Also, a huge thankyou should go to the artists who donated.”
