Cops hunt attack thugs

were called in to scour the scene for clues as to who was behind the onslaught.

It’s understood to have been a targeted attack and there is no wider risk to members of the public.

A trawl of CCTV in the area is underway and officers are also carrying out door to door enquiries.

A Po l i c e S c o t l a n d spokeswoma n said: “Detectives are investigating after a 30- year- old man was seriously assaulted in Henderson Street, Paisley, at around 6.30pm on Wednesday night.

“He suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a serious condition.

“We believe three men alighted from a white Vauxhall Astra before attacking the victim with weapons in the street.”

She added: “This was a despicable attack carried out in broad daylight.

“It is likely there would have been other members of the public in the area.

“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to police.

“If you were driving in the area, we would ask that you check dashcam footage to see if you captured anything which may be useful to our investigation.”
