MP praises kilt-walkers who raised cash for vital charities

-

MP Kirsten Oswald has hailed the success of this year’s virtual Kiltwalk and all of her constituents who took part.

Adam Cabuk, a member of Ms Oswald’s staff, took part in the challenge and raised £300 to support PACE’s Exchange Theatre in Paisley.

Councillor Annette Ireland raised £200 for Cosgrove Care and a team from Barrhead’s Include Me 2 Club raised over £5,600.

Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation have again pledged to add an extra 50 per cent to everything raised by volunteers participating in this year’s event.

Ms Oswald, the MP for East Renfrewshire, said:“I would really like to praise the efforts of Kiltwalk organisers who have made such a success of adapting the event to go ahead on a virtual basis in response to the pandemic.

“I know just how tough the last year has been for many charities and community groups and the funds coming through the Virtual Kiltwalk will be very welcome for so many of them.

“I would also like to recognise the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation who have, once again, pledged to add an extra 50 per cent to everything raised by volunteers.

“I am sure all those taking part will welcome this top up to their own fundraising efforts.”
