Playing our part to revamp park
Villagers put fun in fundraising
Youngsters in Lochwinnoch have been skipping, jumping, dancing and cartwheeling their way around the village as part of an innovative park fundraiser.
The children who were taking part in a sponsored- NOT- walk hopped, hula-hooped and jumped their way around laps of the village playing field.
The event was one of several held throughout the month of April to raise funds for the refurbishment of the village park.
L ed by Loc hwi n n o c h Community Development Trust, the renovation plans include proposals for a new play area an inter-generational seating area and a teen hangout pod.
The month-long campaign saw more than 200 villagers of all ages get active and raise much-needed cash for the renovation which is expected to cost in the region of £150,000.
It saw the Lochwinnoch Toddlers Group host their own mini-Olympics for pre-schoolers, a local buggy group complete a fancy dress sponsored walk and the Lochwinnoch Hearties – a pensioners keep- fit group – complete 100 sit-ups per week.
Meanwhile, a mass step challenge saw 11 teams of five compete to have clocked the most steps over the 30 days. Collectively
