Team effort helps family win £5k

- CARLA TALBOT

A delighted Erskine family lyshowed showed the meaning of teamwork when they used their knowledge to win £5,000 on Clyde 1.

Alistair McKinnon appeared as a contestant on Clyde 1’s £ 5k Minute on Tuesday to try his hand at winning the prize money by answering all ten questions correctly within 60 seconds.

The dad-of-two didn’t think his week could get much better after securing his family a new home in Erskine at the weekend.

But, with the help of his wife Christen and their two children Holly, 18, and 13- year- old Charlie, the family worked together to scoop the prize.

It was a tense 60 seconds as the Glasgow Royal Infirmary worker answered some tough questions, such as ‘what wellknown director went viral on his daughter’s TikTok this week?’ and ‘Simon Neil is a member of which Scottish band?’ to earn the cash.

The family of four could be heard screaming and cheering in the background as they realised they were the second £5k winners of 2021.

Following his win, Alistair said: “Winning this money has been absolutely marvellous.

“We’ve been saving for a new home over the past year, and this has made things that bit easier for us.

“I loved the fact wemanaged we managed to win as a family.

“My family were a great support and really got me over the line so we will be making sure to celebrate with a family meal out now that restrictions are beginning to ease.”

Alistair told hosts George Bowie and Cassi Gillespie that he regularly listened to other contestants playing and that was the first time he had ever been able to get all of the questions right.

He said: “If I get a six, I’ve done well, a seven I’m doing great and once I managed to get a nine.

“But I have never got the full ten.”

Bowie@ Breakfast host, George, was over the moon to see Alistair and his family win Clyde 1’s £5K Minute.

He said: “It was a real team effort from Alistair and his family today.

“I have kids myself and love when we can all get involved in something, so it was great that they worked together to help win the cash.”

Co-host Cassi added: “Alistair’s timing couldn’t be better.

“Not only has he just bought a house, but he and his lovely family can actually go out and celebrate his win, which is fantastic.”

Bowie@ Breakfast is live every weekday morning from 6am to 10am on Clyde 1.
