Car club is back on the road
Renfrewshire’s car club is motoring once again now travel restrictions have been lifted.
The club is encouraging local people to “free themselves from oppressive car bills”by resuming worry-free motoring.
And it has promised safety comes first with stringent sanitising of cars after every use.
LEAP Car Club is run in partnership with Linstone Housing Association.
Cars are cleaned with an odour free disinfectant which continues to kill germs for up to 30 days.
The cars – two electric and one hybrid model – can be found along with electric charging points at Belmar Court and Blackwood Avenue, in Linwood, and Sandyflats, in Johnstone.
They can be hired from £4.69 an hour, but Linstone tenants pay just £1.50 per hour.
Fiona Dunlop, community engagement officer at Linstone, said: “We are proud to be doing our bit with the car club to address climate change and help more local people free themselves from the costs of owning a vehicle with the option to hire a car, by the hour, just when it’s needed.
“Car Club members only pay for the time they use the car and don’t pay for fuel, maintenance, insurance, breakdown or cleaning.”
“Joining the Car Club could bring many benefits for people who normally have to travel using public transport and could provide a cheaper alternative to those using taxis regularly.”
