Man denies attacking his ex

A man is facing trial in Paisley for allegedly assaulting his heavily pregnant ex-partner.

George Noon, 33, is accused of attacking Emma Green at a property in Arthurlie Street, Barrhead, on April 15.

Noon, who made a brief appearance at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday, is denying the charge against him.

Prosecutors claim Noon assaulted Ms Green, who was pregnant at the time, by seizing hold of her by her body and pulling her.

He also alleged to have committed the offence while he was on bail.

Defence agent Terry Gallanagh reiterated that his client is pleading not guilty to the charge and asked that be released on bail.

Sheriff David Pender agreed to the request, but handed Noon, of Graham Street, Barrhead, special conditions that he does not approach or contact his exgirlfriend.

A trial has been set down for October 21 this year, with a pre-trial hearing slated for September 22.
