Cops thankful for campaign support

-

Police in Paisley have thanked the public and organisations in Renfrewshire for their support following their successful fraud campaign last month.

Throughout April, in partnership with a number of agencies, community groups and the public, officers have been working hard to increase awareness of the types of financial crimes that are being committed in the community every day.

Police teamed up with a number of organisations, including Trading Standards, Renfrewshire Council and Roar, to get their message out about tactics used by cruel scammers and how people can protect themselves.

Praising the support for the campaign, Detective Superintendent Gerry McBride said:“Whether it is by email, telephone, text message or social media, fraudsters are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their approach.

“Increasing our own awareness and confidence is key in tackling this and will help to prevent you, your family or your friends from becoming the victim of such callous crimes.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support and contribution throughout the campaign.

“However, we cannot stop here.

“We need to continue helping, supporting and educating each other about the new and emerging scams being developed so that we can tackle them together.

“We will continue to share with you the details of new scams as they emerge and would encourage you to share your experiences also.”
