Pitch perfect as kids pick up their sticks once again

-

The kids’ section of a top hockey club is back in training.

And it’s a welcome relief to get back on the sporting trail for the Kelburne Hockey Club Juniors.

Photographer Lesley Roberts went along to capture some of the training action.

The club celebrated its 50th birthday last year and is based at the cricket oval at Whitehaugh, Paisley.

Members are mounting a campaign for a longheld dream of having a ground of their own.

Discussions have taken place with Renfrewshire Council and SportScotland.

And officials are looking at a Community Asset Transfer to take over Ralston Sports Centre.

They would replace the existing multi-sports surface with a synthetic hockey pitch.

The cost of the project is £600,000 and the club needs to raise at least £75,000.

A spokesman for Kelburne said: “We really need financial support to help bridge this funding gap.

“With over 300 members in our club and friends all over the world, we see this challenge being very achievable if we all work together.”
